Short communication on Antioxidants-Fruits & Vegetables

Antioxidants are the natural or man-made which prevent or protect the cell damage. Diet rich in vegetables and fruits which contain antioxidants are found to be healthy. Few examples of antioxidant includes: beta carotene, vitamins C and E, selenium and carotenoids such as beta-carotene, lycopene, leutin and zeaxanthin.

Fruits and Vegetables are rich in antioxidants and diet rich in these is healthy. Individuals who eat more fruits and vegetables are at low risk for many diseases like cardiovascular, cancers and cataracts. There are concerns rising about the safety of antioxidants in food, however high doses of antioxidant supplements may also lead to health hazards in few cases, like high doses of vitamin E may increase the risk of prostate cancer and one type of stroke (Hemorrhagic stroke which is a type of stroke caused by bleeding in the brain), and high doses of beta-carotene may increase the risk of lung cancer in smokers. Antioxidants may also interact with few medicines, for example vitamin E may increase the bleeding in people who are taking anticoagulants, Talk to your physician or health care provider regarding the complimentary approaches you use to be healthy which helps them in ensuing a safe care.
