Eyes
being the most important organs to visualize the objects are mostly frequently
prone to injuries if not protected properly. With increase in the atmospheric
pollution and other air borne pollutants, eyes are becoming the first victims. With
the entry of the monsoon, there will been an increase in the number of people
suffering from conjunctivitis (Mild conjunctivitis & Severe conjunctivitis) which
is commonly referred as eye flu.
The
common symptoms of eye flu are reddening of the eye, swelling, itching
sensation, Watering and discharge from the eyes. This infection spreads when a
normal person come in contact with an infected one.
Tips to prevent eye
flu:
•
Do not share towels, handkerchiefs, pillows, sunglasses, etc.
•
Avoid shaking hands on physical contact with an eye flu infected person.
•
Eye flu affected individuals should wear dark glasses.
•
Wash eyes and hands frequently.
•
Medication is ineffective if eye flu is due to a viral infection.
•
Consult your Physician (Doctor) and take the medication under his supervision
•Maintain
hand hygiene (by washing hands regularly with anti-septic lotion/soaps/liquids/Sanitizers
like Dettol, Savlon, etc.

ü Flying objects – A
survey conducted by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, found that about 70% of eye
injuries were caused by flying debris or falling objects.
ü Misuse of tools: improper guards, poor maintenance, poor
safety habits.

ü Welding torches (6%)

promote good vision. Vitamin A, a powerful antioxidant, quenches free radical
damage to the cells and tissues. Free radical damage can injure the eyes'
lenses.

Usage of spectacles is a good idea,as well i gave some eye care tips for maintaining the hygiene which could protect the eye from some infections. Wearing spectacles will benefit the from eye injuries and i advice wearing spectacles.
